Origins Unfolding  oil/sand/canvas 36 x 36 x 1.5″

…painted while in residence at Vermont Studio Center in April 2012, inspired by an image of fragile cliff swallow nests carved into the uppermost edges of backshore dunes in Eastham. Temporary home to newborn birds, challenged by wind, rain and gravity. I am intrigued by the serenity and forbearance of erosional landforms and seek to memorialize them. My childhood summers in North Eastham created a lifelong connection to places where ocean meets sand.
