I paint small birch panels from direct observation throughout the year, hiking to remote places undisturbed. Site study paintings document the circumstances of a place at a particular time, revealing unique quirks and oddities, and connecting me intimately with their temporary existence. I listen to the whisper and roar of wind and ocean, the sand and pebbles slowly slithering down sloped dunes, and I am there.
