I paint small birch panels from direct observation throughout the year, hiking to remote areas of the National Seashore and other coastal environments to document beloved places. These small paintings document the circumstances of a place at a particular time, revealing unique quirks and oddities, and connecting me intimately with their temporary existence. I listen to the whisper and roar of wind and ocean, the sand and pebbles slowly slithering down sloped dunes, and I am there.
