Monotypes are paintings transferred to paper once only using a manual press. Students start with a familiar theme and bring it to another level with experimental approaches including additive and subtractive layering of inks, chine collé digital images, and trace monotype, among others. Painterly spontaneous images on smooth acrylic plates with glistening layers of radiant ink create truly unique images with depth, mystery, memory, and delight. An evocative, personal theme emerges with each print session. Demonstrations each day will help to develop individual explorations. Clean-up with baby oil or Gamsol. Beginners to advanced students are welcome.
